Redline T.O.T.B VII 2008

RC Developments were invited to compete at the 2008 Redline Ten of the Best competition at Elvington Airfield in Yorks.

The competition, in its 7th Year of running, hosts a tournament to decide the U.K. Quickest Street Car, with most heavily tuned performance cars from all over the country invited to compete over 3 different discliplines; Handling, Top Speed and Standing Quarter Mile.

RC Developments entered in both of their Race Evo's, which on Street-Legal Tyres and Fully Road Registered and Legal, were competing on behalf of the Mitsubishi Lancer Register Team.
Both cars running well throughout the scorching heat, with the Yellow Car performing back-to-back runs on the handling circuit, and then straight onto the 0-400m Track, followed by a Top Speed run over the 1km strip. The Orange Car, also ran faultlessly, but was reported to have felt a little down on power in the drag, driven by Russ Fellows aided by his massive experience in drag racing.

The Final Standings for the RC Developments Team;

Yellow RC Car Overall: 2nd Position Handling: 9th Position - 49.391s 400m: 3rd Position - 9.73s @ 148mph (Personal Best) Top Speed: 2nd Position - 182.9mph

Orange RC Car Overall: ?? Handling: 7th Position - 48.906s 400m: 15th Position - 10.93s @ 132mph Top Speed: 16th Position - 162.8mph

A big congratulations to Olly Clark & Roger Clark Motorsport for their victory and awesome display of overall car ability. Also a massive well done to the MLR's Gavin Renshaw, with his 2nd Position in the Handling Circuit with a 47.797s pass

Gary Istead Evo 8 MR - RC Drop-In Forged Piston/Rod Pack - 445hp - Stock Turbo!

Another Happy Customer.

Gary Istead's Evo 8 MR received an RC Developments tune this week, with the inclusion of the 'RC Developments Drop-In Forged Piston & Rod Package'. This package, intended for owners with Evo's with less than 30,000 miles, allows the fitment of specially designed, custom RC Developments Forged Pistons and Con-Rods, without the necessity to re-bore the block, nor even the labour to remove the engine from the car. The Drop-In Pack can then set the foundations for 400hp+ tunes, as with Gary's car.

The car was mapped by Andy Clark on Apexi Power FC De-Jetro, with stock fuel injectors, stock MR Camshafts and stock MR Turbocharger, and at 1.75bar produced circa 445bhp at the flywheel, with the limitations at that point being the stock intercooler and fueling system.

ROUND 4 UK TIME ATTACK SERIES - OULTON PARK

RC DEVELOPMENTS RETURN TO EXORCISE RELIABILITY DEMONS, AT THEIR LOCAL PROVING GROUND.

Saturday 5th July.

2008 saw the first occasion for Oulton Park to host the UK Time Attack Series, and being RC's local circuit, the team were hoping for good results and a return to their winning ways.

Dogged with reliability issues, the Yellow 850hp+ Evo had yet to finish a race, but with the addition of the latest development of RC Developments Dry Oil Sump Kit on both of the race cars, the crucial element of adequate oil pressure supply was guaranteed and the Yellow Car could potentially be pushed quicker than ever at the Oulton Circuit.

However, the heavens could not hold out, and a downpour in the morning session would stop the Yellow Car from being driven to its full potential. The Orange Car entered Round 4 in 3rd Place, tied with Steve Guglielmi's Lotus, and with the greatest amount of chance to score more points; RC's Pro-Driver Jamie Stanley was nominated to drive Bob Moore's Orange RC Evo.

That meant that RC Developments Boss Clive Seddon could once again pilot the Yellow Demo Car, with an absence from the cockpit since December, racing at the Tsukuba Circuit in Japan.

Both drivers struggled with absolutely zero traction on the cut R888 Tyres, and as the downpour persisted, it was not looking favourable for the RC Team. Jamie, who has shown incredible pace even in the most dire wet/slippery conditions, was still able to punch out some very credible laptimes in the Orange Car through Warm-Up and Practice Sessions, and did not seem phased by the lack of traction, presumably due to his immense experience racing at Oulton where he is a race instructor. Jamie managed a 1.53.2 in Warm-Up, but would later have to retire the Orange Car to the pits during the Practice Session, where the rain had stopped, but the track was struggling to dry. The unsettling clunking noise from the rear of the car as it was pushed into the RC Pit Garage indicative of a smashed Rear Diff. RC delegated team members to return to Warrington for a replacement Rear Diff to replace it in time for Qualifying.

However, despite his lack of drive time, in a car that had drastically improved in performance since he last drove it, Clive posted the fastest time in Warm-Up (1.44.6) which was the wettest session, increasing his pace to finish 3rd in Practice narrowly behind the Tein Autosportif and Zen Performance Impreza's with a 1.30.9, eventually having to retire the car also with a cracked cam cover, that would require replacing.

The RC Developments team worked solidly throughout lunch on both cars, anticipating the change in weather, as the track continued to dry. Suspension and Tyre Settings were adjusted, and with the efficient swap of the Rear Diff in the Orange Car, and a replacement cam cover for Clive's car, the RC Cars made it out into the Qualifying Session, eager to demonstrate both cars' performance with the slowly reappearing traction on most parts of the circuit.

The improved traction and new settings allowed Jamie to zone in on challenging the top Impreza's, and with a 1.29.3, sailed into the Superbattle Final, 3rd position behind Autosportif and Tein, Clive following the orange car into the final, qualifying in 6th Position with a 1.32.6, and with the sun blazing over the Oulton Circuit, the RC Team were looking forward to the prospect of bringing some more much deserved silverware back home, especially for the Yellow Car.

Both cars were tweaked for the new dry conditions, and refuelled for the Finals, both drivers completely focused on what they had to do. Jamie and Clive battled out against the rest of the field, lead by the immaculate and ultra-quick Roger Clark Motorsport Subaru Impreza. Try as they might, Jamie and Clive could not match the pace of Olly, who stunned the entire crowd, by coming out of mid-table with a final last minute charge managing to post a 1.25.9 right at the end of the session! An incredibly quick laptime, not only were the RC Car's out driven, but the entire pack also, with the Zen Performance Impreza 2 seconds slower! 3rd Position was incredibly close, with Guglielmi, Bennett (in the Autosportif Impreza) and Jamie in the Orange RC Car (finishing with a 1.28.6); separated by only 2/3rd's of a second. Much to Jamie's credit, he drove fantastically, but simply did not have the vehicle pace to match Olly Clark's time. With an apologetic nature towards the RC Crew, Jamie returned to the Pits but was to be commended for his efforts throughout the day, without putting a foot wrong throughout the challenging day.

Clive, who confessed he was shocked at how much quicker the Yellow Car had become through development in 2008, followed Jamie on the leader board, finishing in 6th with a 1.29.5, 3 seconds quicker than P7 - Simon Norris in his Evo 9.

With no RC driver on the podium once again, the only consolations for RC Developments were receiving the MLR's Quickest Evo Cup won by Jamie, and the fact that both of the Evo's had returned with excellent reliability, especially the Yellow Car, which scored its first set of points for the 2008 Season.

Further development of both cars is currently planned to increase their pace, ahead of the penultimate round at Brands Hatch, August 10th.

Harewood Hero - Karl Jackon - Undefeated Sprint Champion in RC Built Evo 9

Congratulations go to Karl Jackon for his return to winning ways, running so far unbeaten throughout the Harrogate Audi Harwood Speed Hill Climb Championship 2008 in the Large Capacity Saloon Car Class, following on from his Championship Victory in the 2007 Series.


Karl has been continuing to run in his RC Developments built 550hp Mitsubishi Evo 9 GT in the championship with great success, cleaning up in every round he has entered, undefeated in his class. The championship is held in conjunction with the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) at Harewood, near Leeds, over 10 weekend rounds.


Karl's Evo 9 features an RC Developments 2.4L Stroker Engine along with Custom Turbocharger Kit, and Drenth Dog Mission Gearbox. Built by Andy Clark and Clive Seddon of RC Development,s the car produces 550hp on Pump Fuel, fully mapped in house on AEM EMS Engine Management. Suspension and Chassis Development work has all been carried out by RC Developments, with the recent inclusion of Active Centre Differential Controller, and 1.5way Front Diff.














April 13th 2008 marked the Spring National Meeting, where throughout challenging conditions, Karl stamped his mark on the opening round, taking the lead over David Marshall in the Peugeot 205 GTi.

RC Developments compete at Time Attack with R35 GTR - First UK Motorsport Outing for the new GTR

RC Developments mark a point in GTR History, with entering their new R35 GTR into Round 4 of the 2008 UK Time Attack Series

The RC Developments GTR was entered into the event at Oulton Park on the 5th July 2008, heralding its first appearance in UK Motorsport. The new GTR import is owned by Max Waung, company director of RC Developments and importing company Car Planet LTD. The GTR with around 480hp from standard produced by the 3.8 V6 Twin Turbocharged Motor, will be entered as stock, with the only modification being a tyre swap to Toyo T1R as part of the regulations of the controlled tyre series sponsored by Toyo Tyres. Unfortunately, Toyo had poor stock levels of the T1R in 20" (with no race tyre R888 available yet), and were only able to supply RC Developments with a 285/30/20 rear tyre, and 245/30/20 front tyre, which would prove to unsettle the car as it was far too small on the front. The car ran fautlessly throughout, with RC Developments Co Director and Driver of the Yellow RC Evo, Clive Seddon, driving the GTR faultlessly throughout, even through wet track conditions in the first session, eventually qualifying for the Super Battle as the track dried out.

Result: 1'37.046 in the Super Battle Final, landing it in 14th of 21.

Much to gain from this incredible car, and a very promising result considering the highly modified opposition. RC Developments are very pleased and proud to have ran the car, and now have the opportunity to analyse its performance from the weekend, and develop the car further.

RC Developments ahead of Time Attack Round 5 - Oulton Park 5th July

RC Developments prepare for competing in the 5th Round of the 2008 UK Time Attack, with Oulton Park, Cheshire hosting the event for the first round. RC Developments will be entering both of their Mitsubishi Evo's and hoping for a return to their winning ways, at their local stamping ground.

The Orange Evo is currently tied for 3rd in the Championship, thanks to some excellent displays of handling the 800hp Evo's from RC Pro Driver Jamie Stanley (jumping between the Yellow and Orange Car over previous rounds), with the Yellow Sister Evo falling foul to bad luck throughout the season. Jamie will drive the Orange Evo and hope to gain more points or podium finish where it belongs, whilst RC Director Clive Seddon will drive in the Yellow Car, on a circuit he has a great deal of experience at.

MLR Rolling Road Day - Hosted by RC Developments

RC Developments recently hosted the Mitsubishi Lancer Register Rolling Road day at their H.Q in Warrington, Cheshire. Around 25 modified Mitsubishi Evo's arrived at the tuning house on the Saturday, with their owners eager to have their pride and joy tested to see how their modifications had increased performance. A great variety of Evo's were present, from Evo 4's up to Evo 9's, with power levels ranging from mild basic tune, up to amazing 850hp conversions

The Mitsubishi Lancer Register is an independant organisation dedicated to owners and enthusiasts of Mitsubishi Lancer's, in particular the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo with around 37,000 active members.

The day began with the arrival of Evo's from all over the United Kingdom, many coming as far as Scotland, with the group being split into 2 categories; Evo 4,5,6 and Evo 7,8,9, with each car undergoing a carefully performed power test on RC Developments' Dyno Dynamics 4 Wheel Rolling Road. With brand new software and recent calibration check from Terry at Dyno Dynamics, the MLR Club Members were assured ultra accurate power and torque readings, aswell as useful information provided in the form of other engine parameters such as boost pressure and air fuel ratio. The day ran very smoothly with 21 Evo's being tested throughout the day, with the RC Developments Staff on hand to help all of the MLR Members with tuning guidance and advice on getting the most out of their cars. In addition, RC Developments were offering Full 4 Wheel Alignment Sessions for customers wishing to optimise their suspension geometry settings

The whole day had positive feedback from the club, with the general consensus being that the excellent orginastion leant to a smooth and enjoyable day.

Particular highlights were from Daryl Page's Evo 4, running a 2.4L RC Developments Stroker Kit, with 530bhp at the wheels, making it one of Europe's most powerful Evo 4's.

Also, Kev Hemsleys Ultimate Sleeper; an RC Developments Road Going Monster, with Drenth Dog Gearbox, 2.4l RC Motor with RC GT40 Series Turbocharger, producing 644bhp at the wheels (around 847bhp at the flywheel), virtually stock bodywork, full interior and even a babyseat!
